Academic and community researchers are working together to identify the conditions and principles of successful community-based conservation in selected locations in Bolivia, Brazil and Mexico, working in partnership with local Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and indigenous communities.
In Bolivia, research is being carried out with Tsimane communities who live in the Pilón Lajas National Park.
In Brazil, we are collaborating with the Pataxó who live in or depend on the Jaqueira Reserve and Monte Pascoal National Park in southern Bahia.
In Mexico we are carrying out fieldwork with Maya communities bordering the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve in Campeche in the Yucatan peninsula.
